Assistant Vice President (AVP), Retail Operations – North

Position Summary

Statewide Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced retail banking leader to serve as Assistant Vice President (AVP), Regional Retail Operations – North. This is a full-time, in-person leadership role responsible for strengthening performance across two branch locations, including direct on-site leadership of our busiest branch, Starkville.

This role is ideal for a leader who excels at developing people, building strong sales behaviors, and improving financial performance in a sustainable, member-centered way. The AVP partners closely with executive leadership to shape and execute retail strategies that drive long-term success for members, employees, and the Credit Union.

Leadership Role & Strategic Impact

As a member of the Retail Leadership Team, the AVP provides insight, operational leadership, and execution support aligned with the Credit Union’s strategic objectives. This role works collaboratively with executives to develop retail strategies tailored to these locations, balancing growth, service quality, and financial sustainability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Branch & Regional Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for two branch locations, including direct, on-site management of the Starkville Branch.
  • Establish consistent operating standards and service expectations.
  • Drive improvements in operational effectiveness, member experience, and financial sustainability.
  • Analyze theworkflow of the member services structure in all areas, and recommend changes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Sales Culture & Performance Development:

  • Foster a relationship-based, needs-focused sales culture.
  • Coach ethical sales behaviors without product pressure.
  • Use a balanced scorecard that emphasizes revenue per member, Net Promoter Score, membership growth, and loan growth.

Leadership Development & Talent Management:

  • Develop staff and leadership through regular effective coaching.
  • Conduct behavior-based performance evaluations.

Retail Strategy & Executive Collaboration:

  • Partner with executives to develop a regional retail strategy.
  • Achieve sustained performance improvement within 12 months.

Operational Excellence & Compliance:

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and efficient branch operations.
  • Maintain clean, welcoming branch environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.

5 years or more of progressive leadership experience in financial services.

Experience leading high-volume branch operations preferred.

Demonstrated success in developing people and sustainable performance.

Strong communication and leadership skills.

In-person availability required.
